- There are no bad days....there are just some days better than others. Why being in a 'funk' is okay & how to get out of it 🤺 _ This photo may seem like your normal gym selfie. However I didn't take the photo because I thought I had a 'sick pump' or my gym outfit was fresh (although I do like the shirt). Truth be told, I took the photo last night to keep me grounded and bring me back to reality. _ I was feeling some type of way last night and still am a little bit this morning. Not a good type of way either. I'm in a funk. I feel like I'm not making progress in the gym for what my true goals are. I feel disorganized. I feel like I'm not as motivated as I normally am with certain aspects of life. I feel like days go by where I'm not accomplishing anything. _ Throw that together with the fact that we're human & not everything is Chipotle burritos and Jeni's ice cream every single day 🌯🍦. People have rough days. People get anxious. People get down. People get into funks. It's not bad. It's normal - despite what you might think based on social media. _ First action I did this morning after realizing I've been down for a couple of days was to thank God for my current life. For the people in it. For my health. For my the opportunities I have. For everything. Even if you're not religious in any way, just being openly thankful is so humbling & makes you appreciate life. _ Next, have a plan of action for how to make the next days, weeks, months better. For me, this is coming up with a specific plan that I want to hit in the gym/nutrition for the next 16 weeks. I haven't really done a great job of keeping track of my diet & I haven't been pushing myself as much as I should in the gym. This has to change. _ Third, do something you despise, but you know is productive. No questions asked, for me, this is doing laundry & cleaning my room. I hate hate hate it in the moment. BUT it will make me feel better & accomplished when it's done. _ Finally, do something for yourself that makes you feel good. Whether that's getting new clothes, buying your favorite food, drinking wine & netflixing by yourself, or getting your hair cut. You deserve to be happy.

- Recieved this beautiful story from Nazia @fitnessrebornuk1 “I struggled with eating disorders almost all my life aged between 16 till 29 years old. In my head I believed I was ugly and fat and would starve for days just to be this perfect size 0. I was never happy, even with a six pack. in my community we don't speak about eating disorders, its not heard of. I became a boxer when I was 20 years old, this helped me gain confidence and calm my anger. but I still struggled trying to fit in. I had a lot of backlash from my community as boxing was not seen as an accpetable sport for Bangladeshi female's but I carried on. boxing was my sanctuary. I had a battle with my weight for as long as I remember and then I was faced with depression when I turned 30 years old. I wasn't able to speak about it for ages, I just supressed all my emotions but one thing that kept me alive was my love for fitness. I have learnt to love myself which was key for self acceptance. My full time career is to help muslim females to fall in love with their bodies no matter what shape or size they are, I use neuroscience to help them recreate their habits and patterns. - Every morning I take at least 10 minutes to meditate. Most of the time I sit in silence and let the mantra come to me. The Universe did not whisper this to me this morning, but shouted. I repeated this over and over until I saw it in my mind and felt it in my heart and down in my belly. I know so many of you need to tell this to yourself as well. - What does God say about BODY IMAGE? 😳 I know... *cringe* But seriously, does it even matter to God? Is it something Christians should even talk about?! 🤔 • • • Firstly, YES. None of our struggles or emotions are foreign to God (He kind of created us... lol). But we do choose what to do with our thoughts. Sure, body image isn’t specifically in the Bible, but our bodies and behaviors certainly are ➡️ we are told to be bold for the Gospel, put on the armor of God, dress to not call attention to ourselves, adorn ourselves with a gentle spirit, and to daily transform to be more like Christ. That’s plenty to help us discern how to see body image! 🙋🏼‍♀️ • • • • As I learn to combine my faith with recovery and fitness, it seems to be a gray area that each person needs to seek God for. It’s somewhat of a gray area... but it’s also not. - There's an unspoken thing that happens after you give birth to a baby. Maybe not baby one, but more than likely with baby number 2. What is this thing? You are more likely to pee your pants when exercising: definitely jumping, perhaps walking, maybe even just standing up. Yep there it is. The thing we don't talk about. The BIG secret. The thing we don't even tell our husbands about because we're embarrassed of our damaged, post-delivery bodies. Personally, I found it both uncomfortable and embarrassing (though I think that’s a given). I would start running, have an "accident" (did I really just say that?), and then keep running despite the chafing from my wet shorts. It was miserable. It took me over a year post-baby to re-strengthen my pelvic floor. So, for all of those with wet pants, sciatic nerve pain, foot pain, or any other kind of pain/issue that prevents or keeps you from doing exercises that involve jump-type (plyo) movements, here is a non-plyo workout for you 🙂 (had to shorten for instagram and accidentally cut off end of modified burpee!
